Lisbon, November 5th, 2025 – On November 24th, Unicorn Factory Lisboa will host the 4th edition of the Agrifood Open Day, the leading event for everyone driving or interested in the sustainable transformation of the agrifood system.

With the theme “Biotechnology in the Service of a Resilient Agriculture,” this edition highlights the role of science and technology in creating more resilient, circular, and regenerative food systems — essential to tackling the challenges of climate change and food security.

“The Agrifood Open Day is already more than an annual event: it’s a platform for convergence between science, innovation, and the market. Our goal is to strengthen collaboration among key players in the sector, both nationally and internationally, and to accelerate the adoption of economically and environmentally viable solutions, fostering real impact on the resilience of our agrifood systems,” says Gonçalo Amorim, CEO of BGI.

Highlights of this edition include:

  • Panels and round tables with experts – discussing the trends, challenges, and opportunities that are transforming the agrifood system.

  • Exploring the Agrifood Innovation Ecosystem – showcasing biotechnological, resilient agriculture, and food technology solutions already shaping the future of the sector, as well as major initiatives and opportunities to participate in European platforms.

  • Presentation of Portuguese startups – featuring over 10 innovative projects with pioneering solutions for the future of food.

  • Networking and collaboration opportunities – connecting companies, researchers, farmers, and investors.

  • Tasting of innovative products – featuring foods developed by national startups.

The Agrifood Open Day will offer a diverse full-day program, including inspiring keynotes, round tables, startup pitches, and networking sessions. Highlights include presentations of biotechnological solutions applied to agriculture and initiatives for upskilling the workforce toward regeneration and resilience in the agrifood sector.

Awards will also be presented to the winning startups from the EWA (Empowering Women in Agrifood) program, which empowers women entrepreneurs in the agrifood sector, as well as from other programs such as Agrifood Disruptor.
